Finding and landing a job can be tough. Whether the job is a volunteer position, part-time work, or a full-time career, job seeking requires planning, organization, good social skills, and perseverance. This unit targets the skills necessary to execute a successful job search, including building a great resume, networking like a pro, filling out online applications with confidence, and nailing the interview. Students will learn the dos and don’ts of social communication, helping them to avoid common pitfalls in the employment seeking process. The skills practiced here will help the student not just in their search for employment, but in other areas as well, such as applying for post-secondary education, participating in community organizations, and even building friendships. No matter what their strengths, weaknesses, or vocational interests, students will benefit from improving these skills.
